It grew out of conversations with fifty parents about their hardest moments, and what they wished they'd had in their pocket.

Our foundation is a rupture-repair-attachment framework rooted in developmental child psychology — the natural cycle of connection, disconnection, and reconnection that builds secure attachment. Stories follow three steps: children experience validation without judgment, observe characters managing challenging emotions, and feel their relationship with their parent strengthen through the repair process. We deliberately avoid lecturing, moralising, or labelling behaviours as right or wrong.

No — and we say that clearly inside the app too. Nuri Tales is a storytelling app that helps families reconnect; it doesn't diagnose, treat, or replace professional support. We take that line seriously in the product itself: every request passes a safety check before a story is written, and when a situation calls for more than a story, the app says so honestly instead of generating one. If you're worried about your child, please talk to your paediatrician or a child psychologist — that's always the right call.

Some days aren't a story day — and the app is built to recognise that. If what you describe suggests your family needs more than a story — persistent fears, potential harm, grief that isn't lifting — Nuri won't pretend otherwise. Instead of generating a story as if nothing happened, it tells you openly that this looks bigger than what a story can hold, and encourages you to reach out to a professional. We'd rather lose a story than miss a signal.

What ages does it work for?

Best for children 3 to 8. The reading level and narrative complexity adjust to your child's age — ages 3–4 receive short, sensory, concrete stories; ages 5–6 encounter internal dialogue and conflicting emotions; ages 7–8 explore multiple viewpoints and ethical nuance. Some four-year-olds love it; some ten-year-olds still ask for one.

What comes with every story?

More than the story itself. Every story arrives fully illustrated with its own cover. Alongside it you get a short note for you — what's going on developmentally, and how to follow up gently. And after the last page: three quiet reflection questions to ask together, a colouring page drawn from a scene of your story, and a search-and-find picture from your story's world. Every story includes all of it.

How long are the stories?

Around five minutes, read together — long enough to settle into, short enough for a tired evening. The reflection questions and activities that come with each story are there for whenever the moment is right: straight after, or at the kitchen table two days later.

Right now, Nuri Tales is available in English. German, Spanish, French, Italian, and Portuguese are in preparation and will be released soon — both the interface and the stories. We translate carefully; the warmth has to survive the language change.

What about screen time?

The reader is designed to be used together, on one device, for around five minutes. No notifications, no autoplay, no follow-on content. Then the app gets out of your way — and the printable activities that come with every story are made precisely so the moment can continue off the screen.

Can I use it for more than one child?

Yes. Each child gets their own profile — age, temperament, interests, and their comfort object if they have one — and every story is written specifically for the child it's about. Siblings can each get their own story about the same afternoon, told the way each of them needed to hear it.

Can I print the stories and activities?

The colouring page and the reflection cards that come with every story are designed for paper. Print them, and the story continues at the kitchen table — crayons out, no screen involved. In our experience, that's where the best conversations happen.

Your first three stories are free — the whole experience, nothing held back. After that, Premium unlocks unlimited stories with everything included for €12,99 a month or €119,99 a year (about two months free). Not ready for Premium? Inviting a friend earns you both an extra free story.

Can I earn free stories?

Yes. Share your invite from the app: when a friend joins, you both receive a free story credit — their welcome gift, and our thank-you to you.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes, anytime through your App Store or Google Play settings, or via the web portal. Your Premium features remain active until the end of the billing period.

What happens to what I write about my child?

Accepted Answer

It stays yours. What you write is used to create your child's story and the note that comes with it — nothing else. Our AI partners process it strictly as contract-bound processors and are contractually obliged not to train their models on your data. There are no ads, we never sell data, and you can delete your stories and your account at any time. The full picture — every provider, every safeguard — is in our privacy policy.
